Oi! What’s going on with your blog?

Hello there reader—if you’re wondering what is going on with the layout of my Wordpress Blog, it’s because I’m customizing it. This is my new blog, and I’ve started to write articles before the design is finished. Why? This is for two main reasons—so search engines can start indexing my site (and because this is a new site, get out of the Google Sandbox) and secondly, so my content can be read straight away, so it stays relevant.

I you are a new reader, and sometimes my site looks a bit mish-mashed, just hit the refresh button in your browser to load the new code and stylesheet. If you have any opinions on my blog, or any suggestions, please let me know, won’t you? Thanks for your patience, it will be worth it…

Hi Andrew. I love the layout of your site, especially the slick treatment you gave the “AK” logo for your name. I had to laugh when I first read the title for this post, because I just posted about my Blogger woes (Oui vey, Blogger!). I’m not a coder so I too have had to spend countless hours scouring the Web searching for info and tutorials.

I do have a WP blog (lifeisacomic.wordpress.com), but it’s just a freebie version. I’m testing it out to see if there’s any benefits to using WP over Blogger. I have had some people tell me that my biggest problem is the coding of my Blogger blog; it needs to go on a diet.

Unfortunately, I don’t know much about coding and the thought of spending more hours scouring the web just to learn is a bit of a turn-off.

Doug C.s last blog post..Oui vey, Blogger!

  2. Hi Doug,
    Thanks for the compliment.
I’ve noticed your blog before a while back when David Airey featured your blog in a post.

For me, Wordpress is the only way to go, mainly due to the amount of support out there (in forums, etc) and the large amount of plugins available.

For instance, on this blog, I haven’t even finished setting it up properly, but I’ve installed 17 plugins! The best ones been Askimet and CommentLuv.

Like yourself, I’m not really a trained coder either, just self-taught with online tutorials and a couple of books.

In my next installment of ‘How I customized my Wordpress Blog’, I’ll outline how I went about the process.

To be honest, I don’t know too much about blogger, but WP hasn’t given me much problems, I’ll take a read at your post…
