If like myself, you live in Britain (or have visited), you may have seen the iconic “Keep Britain Tidy Logo” on food packaging and sweet (candy) wrappers. Well, after 38 years, it has been rebranded to a new leaner, modern and greener version of its former self.
I for one like it. Although the pointed feet and arms of the 1972 version have become somewhat iconic, the change is welcome.
I’ve always loved this great “Keep it Tidy advert” (above), too.
For more information, visit the Keep Britain Tidy website article on the rebrand.
What do you think? Do you have a similar logo in your country?

‘love’ has become the most disgustingly overused and devalued sentiment for the truly desperate creative.

Miles → Thanks for your insight; care to elaborate?

I hadn’t noticed the re-design Andrew, thanks for pointing it out.
I’d agree that it’s a successful update and also like the addition of the ‘Love where you live’ strapline as well.
Designers have to tread carefully around established iconic designs such as this and I think here they’ve done a good job of updating without destroying or damaging.

Gareth → I don’t think this is case of a logo that “could do with an update”; rather, it really needed it. Like you said, the designer has done a great job and the strapline fits-in with the green credentials aspect.
Thanks for commenting…

“rather, it really needed it.”
Agreed. The first one doesn’t look like a logo to me. It looks like a hastily put together symbol which says “here is a rubbish bin”.

Andrew → It worked well in its day, but yeah, it looks really outdated now, especially compared to the updated version…
