John 3:16 is probably the most searched for Biblical verse ever. Why? Because it encompasses as much hope and security as one could get squeezed into one verse. I have adapted this “Gospel in a Nutshell” to fit the ESV (English Standard Version) of the Bible. I like the ESV, as it offers word-for-word accurate translation of God’s Holy Word—and easier to understand than the King James Version.

For God (the greatest Giver)
so loved (the greatest motive)
the world (the greatest need),
that He gave (the greatest act)
His only Son (the greatest gift),
that whosoever (the greatest invitation)
believes (the greatest decision)
in Him (the greatest Person)
*believes in Him (the greatest opportunity)
should not perish (the greatest deliverance),
but (the greatest difference)
have (the greatest certainty)
eternal life (the greatest possession).

If you are already a Christian, this message can strengthen your faith. However, if you are still unsaved, this message could be the start of a great journey for you. Please note that believing in God is easy (even the devil believes in God!), but believing IN HIM is not just a belief that He exists. No. It is accepting Jesus as LORD and Saviour, repenting of your sins, living by His Commandments, trusting in Him and having a special relationship with Him.
